What's new for ITIL v3 Training
Foundation
Fox IT are now delivering more and more public and private ITIL v3 Foundation courses every week, and now that the ITIL v3 Foundation Bridging syllabus and examination decision has finally been made we are able to offer this course and provide those that attended our ITIL v3 Conversion course with the option to take an examination.

Managers Certificate
We are also pleased to have now received the syllabus for the ITIL Manager's Bridging course, and we will be offering this course from November onwards, with three courses scheduled for this year already. This was originally expected to be a three day course, but on viewing the syllabus and with the need to tag an examination onto the course, Fox IT have decided to make this a five day course, with the examination on Day 5.

This ITIL Manager's Bridging course and examination will enable those with the current ITIL v2 Manager's Certificate to achieve the new ITIL Diploma, and for those that want to shortcut the new ITIL Training agenda, they can still take an ITIL v2 Manager's course and then the ITIL v3 Manager's Bridging course to get the Diploma.

Check special packages and early booking schemes for these course details.

ITIL v2 Training
At the moment it is anticipated that the ITIL v2 Foundation examination will be retired by APMG at the end of 2007, although Fox IT are still seeing a demand for this course, especially with our customers who want private courses and are part way through a training programme. In addition, we are also getting increased demand for the public ITIL v2 Manager's Certificate course and also several requests for Private ITIL v2 Manager's courses, where we are able to do "on-demand" examinations.

The ITIL v2 Manager's examinations are expected to be retired by APMG at the end of 2008, which means courses need to be booked now for the end of 2007 and early 2008 to give you time. Fox IT is currently offering a special package price for anyone wanting to get and ITIL Manager's Certificate and also book their ITIL Manager's Bridging course at the same time.

ITIL v3 Process Knowledge Base
Fox IT have upgraded our Process Documentation tool (foxPRISM) to now be a fully integrated web-based Process Knowledge Base for ITIL v3, including all process flows in easy to follow swim-lane format; all key elements, activities and controls are mapped and defined; organisation roles and responsibilities are clearly defined with RACI Matrices for every process; and we have included a number of templates as well.

The Knowledge Base is developed using basic Microsoft Office products, ensuring that it is easy to implement and maintain, and provides organisations with an "out of the box" set of best practice process models. Many organisations have used foxPRISM as the basis for their ITIL Service Management programme, saving time and money and giving their programme a boost from Day 1. In addition, this version of foxPRISM also contains cross reference to ISO20000 and has additional processes that are covered in ISO20000 and not included within ITIL v3.

Fox more information about foxPRISM go to http://www.foxit.net/foxPRISM or download our free trial version.

“ITIL v3 On a Page”
All delegates on Fox IT courses will receive the Fox IT
“ITIL v3 On a Page” wall chart (or you can download one from http://www.foxit.net/ITILv3-Wallchart).

This provides you with all the service lifecycle, main processes, sub-processes and key outputs on a single page. A picture paints a thousand words and there are 1279 pages in the new ITIL v3 core set!!

What is the impact of ITIL v3 on ISO20000?
In some ways, ITIL v3 has caught up with ISO20000 by incorporating some of the processes such as Information Security Management and Supplier Management. In other ways, ITIL v3 has moved ahead with other changes. However, it is important to remember that ITIL and ISO20000 have different purposes and they will never exactly mirror one another.

There is currently an exercise going on by the ISO committee to review ITIL v3 and make recommendations on proposed changes to the standard. Initial findings are that most of the changes in ITIL v3 are already at least partially covered in ISO20000 and any changes are likely to be minor. Decisions to be taken include, for example, ITIL v3 has extended Release Management to be called Release and Deployment Management – does this need to be reflected in ISO20000?

If you have questions about ISO20000, please see our Frequently Asked Questions page. The table below summarises the differences between ITIL v3 and ISO20000:
