Vernon Lloyd - itSMF Lifetime Achievement Award

Industry Recognises Vernon Lloyd’s Contribution to Service Management

10th November 2004

You will be pleased to know that at last night’s itSMF annual awards ceremony, Vernon Lloyd received the Prestigious ’Paul Rappaport’ Life Time Achievement Award.

The award is presented in the memory of Paul Rappaport who contributed so much in the early years to establishing Best Practice Service Management.

Aiden Lawes, CEO of itSMF said of Vernon whilst making the presentation,

“A Larger than life character who through his total dedication and evangelistic approach to Service Management has inspired hundreds of other would be advocates to adopt Best Practice Service Management within their own organisations”.

Throughout his career, spanning over 25 years Vernon has always led from the front in terms of his contribution to the advancement of Best Practice within the IT Service Industry.

Some of his key contributions include:

  • Lead Author for many of the ITIL Books.
  • Development of many of the industry courses and associated qualifications.
  • An active and valued contributor to the itSMF over its 13 years.
  • A member of the ISEB and OGC Management Boards.
  • An ISEB examiner for over 10 years.
  • A Founder Member and Vice President of the Service Management Institute.
  • A key note speaker at conferences world-wide, including USA, Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, Switzerland, Luxemburg and more recently India and Japan, where he is very big.

Such is his standing in the industry; the words ’BIG VERN’ were enough to identify this year’s winner and bring the 1000 guests to their feet.

Vernon’s award marks the fourth person out of the total of only 6 winners, from the Ultracomp/Fox IT Community, such is the company’s influence within the industry re-enforcing our claim to being the ’The Authority in Service Management’.

This was further reinforced by foxPrism being short listed for the innovation award. Whilst not a winner on the night it was an excellent achievement to be short listed amongst so many nominations. Congratulations to Ruth Porter, Ed Moon, Steve Morgan, Mark Sykes and Steve Ingall and all the many consultants who contributed to the development, validation and successful implementation.

But the final word must go to the delegate who on her course assessment put “’BIG VERN – WHAT A MAN!”
